I’m a gadget woman who loves working/playing within University of Texas at Austin as a web creator.
My passion for devices and technology began in the back of a 356 Porsche on age of 1. I happened to be raised when you look at the high-speed realm of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Porsche Club of The united states (PCA). My part designs were racing officials, drivers as well as the crash rescue group. To this day, the roar of a well tuned motor makes my pulse faster.
My very first computer system was a Mac SE and I ended up being an Apple woman until 2000, whenever I joined up with the central web team at UT Austin and switched to a PC. At the time of 2007 I’m cheerfully residing a bi-OS life on a MacBook Pro (sweet sigh of satisfaction).
I’m reveling in motherhood…married to a prince of a man with two precious kiddies. My nickname in college had been the 4 year old, and I also will have a childlike aspect to my character.
I’m a voracious reader who’s is careful that I don’t succumb to a malady like “book-eating boy” did 😉
I clearly remember the time the internet won my heart. I’d only install Mosaic and gotten my first glimpse worldwide open online. Let me make it clear, it had been "love to start with sight". That 12 months, we taught myself HTML and began building web pages for UT. I’ve knowledge programming in Basic, Pascal, All-natural, PHP and CakePHP.
usually introduce myself as Glenda the Goodwitch therefore the self-appointed Accessibility Goddess/Web guidelines Evangelist of University of Texas at Austin. I sit on the central UT internet staff where We help support www.utexas.edu. My areas include usability/accessibility, handheld wireless devices, technical education and task administration.
In addition adore using Sharron race additionally the team at Knowbility in which we co-founded AIR-University (Accessibility online Rally) and AccessU. I act as an accessibility consultant, judge and instructor for Knowbility. This can be an ideal fit for me, because Im about empowering people who have information and functionality on the net.
Once I’m no longer working at UT or accessibilizing with Knowbility, you may be likely to get me personally volunteering for Web Standards venture or exploring museum technology. Personally I think my raison d’etre is always to transform galleries into important interactive experiences utilizing clear technology. We talk to the Blanton Museum and GeeGuides where we find it impossible to differentiate work from play.
