Ex 1: resolve: 12x + 4x

Solution: 12x + 4x = (12 + 4) x

12x and 4x gets the common term x.so. we just take ‘x’ outside.

12x + 4x = 16 x

Ex 2: resolve: 6y-4y

Solution: 6y and 4y has the typical term y.So, we take ‘y’ outside

6y – 4y = (6-4)y

6y – 4y = 2y

Ex 3: 3x + 4y + 6x -6y

Solution: 3x + 6x – 6y + 4y

Add such terms

(3 + 6)x + (-6 + 4)y

Simplify the expression

9x – 2y

Answer : 9x – 2y

Ex 4: Solve the appearance : 3pq^3 × 4qr

Solution: 3pq^2× 4qr

= 3 × p × q × q × 4 × q × r

= 3 × 4 × p × q × q × q × r

= 12 × p × q^3 × r

= 12pq4r

Ex 5: Solve the appearance : -2a^3b× 3ab^2c

Solution: -2a^3b× 3ab^2c

= -2 × 3× a^3× a × b × b^2× c

If the base is exact same then those exponents tend to be included and simplify the expression,

= -6× a^4× b^3× c

= -6a^4b^3c

Ex 6: measure the appearance (1 + x) × 2 + 12 ÷ 3 – x whenever x = 5.

Solution: Here,we substitute the worthiness of 5 instead of x,

(1 + x) × 2 + 12 ÷ 3 – x becomes

(1 + 5) × 2 + 12 ÷ 3 – 5 = 6 × 2 + 12 ÷ 3 – 5

= 12 + 4 – 5

= 11.

Solution:12x+4 =16

Subtract 4 on both edges ,we get

12x +4 -4 = 16-4

12x = 12

Divide both edges by 12 ,we get

X = 1

Check: Substitute x=1 on provided equation:

12x + 4 =16

12(1) + 4 =16

12 + 4 =16

16 = 16

Ex 8: Solve: ‘(x)/(4)’ +3 = 17

Solution : ‘(x)/(4)’ +3 = 17

Subtract 3 on both sides,

‘(x)/(4)’ +3 -3 =17-3

‘(x)/(4)’ =14

Multiply 4 on both sides,

‘(x)/(4)’ * 4 = 14 *4

x= 14 * 4

x = 56

Check:Substitute x = 56 on given equation:

‘(x)/(4)’ +3 = 17

‘(56)/(4)’+3 = 17

14 + 3 = 17

17 = 17

Ex :9 resolve 3(x + 1) – x = 5

Solution:

3(x + 1) – x = 5

3x + 3 – x = 5 (use distributive residential property)

2x + 3 = 5 (combine like terms)

2x + 3 – 3 = 5 – 3

2x =2

x = 1
